Positive solutions
On our Island Hawai’i we have an animal overpopulation that can be solved with free or low cost spay/neuter. It takes donations, volunteers, education and promoting Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage of cat colonies. A positive solution is getting involved, no one person can do it alone, it takes a community endeavor to become successful for the animals. If you sit on the side-lines nothing is achieved. Step up to help and be the voice for all animals. They need you.
Harmony blossoms
Animals need all of us to work together and helping what ever is needed. For example: Lets say you have a neighbor kind hearted feeding backyard kitties. Can’t afford to have them fixed, and maybe doesn’t have a car to transport them to spay/neuter appointments. Best to be apart of the solution and not contribute to the problem and here’s how. Let your neighbor know how kind they are, and ask how you can help. Offer contact information on the various organizations sponsoring free spay/neuter. Sometimes the organization will contact them to get them on board if you tried but nothing resulted.
Working together
Sometimes the hardest part of trying to help animals is navigating with various human personalities. It is wonderfully rewarding helping animals. But stay focus by having a plan. Work with the feeders, the neighbor, the Veterinarian, the organization that is scheduling the spay/neuter appointments.
Never trap a kitty without an appointment. Never trap a kitty assuming a sanctuary will automatically accept. Presently, including Hui Pono Holoholona/PAWS is at a critical level and unable to bring in any new kitties.
